Bali Nusa Indah is an Indonesian restaurant which combines traditional cooking with modern techniques. It’s a place where you can get away from the city and experience the tastes that all the islands of Indonesia have to offer. Located near Manhattan’s theatre district, it’s a great place to go before and after a Broadway show.
The menu features Indonesia’s version of comfort food which includes various styles of cooking. The most popular of their delicious specialties is their Rijstafel which features a mixture of their best dishes served with a vast amount of rice.
Whether you’re looking for traditional Indonesian flavors or want to try something new, look no further than Bali Nusa Indah to satisfy all your cravings.
Rendang—Tender beef simmered in coconut and chili
Kari Daging—Indonesian beef curry
Ikan Pepes—Broiled red snapper fillet with lemongrass sauce wrapped in banana leaf
Sate Bahari—Indonesian seafood satay with spicy sauce
Ketoprak Jakarta—Bean sprouts, rice, noodles and bean curd with spicy peanut sauce
Bihun Goreng—Fried rice noodles with chicken, shrimp, vegetables and egg
One of my favorite places to order from in the area

Haven't even finished my food yet, but I had to stop and give this restaurant 5 stars, yeah it's that good, and I've got a little left to get back to. :)

The food has always been very good. However for some reason 2 out of the last 4 orders the Krupuk is not included although ordered and paid for ...

Great nasi goreng - always faster than advertised. Love this place.

Consistently great food and reasonable pricing, given the quality and portions. If you haven't tried Indonesian food, it's similar to Thai but with a little less spice, a little more coconut milk, and a slightly more "tropical" feel. I'm a vegetarian, but my friends have enjoyed the meat items as well, so I don't think you can really go wrong. Consider me a convert.

I always stop at Bali Nusa's stand at the 9th Ave Food Fair and have meant to order from them forever. I finally did tonight and am kicking myself for waiting this long. Everything was good - especially the Rendang Padang beef curry and the Kare Ayam chicken curry. Just FYI, because it's a little confusing - the "Nasi Rames" section of the menu lists all the things you get if you order a Nasi Rames tasting menu. You get whatever main dish you pick plus little mini containers of all the other curries and stir fries and salads listed as separate dishes in that section. I'm guessing the Rijsttafel menu is the same layout.

First time eating Indonesian food. Ordered the veggie curry lunch special for pickup. Fantastic!! Not a spicy curry, but very delicious and a good portion! Will definitely order from here again.

The delivery took 2 hours 5 minutes. Absoultely cannot give this place more than 1 star. The staff kept misguiding

Great food with authentic Indonesian flavors. Just wish they were willing to swap out the white rice for nasi with the various dishes instead of forcing you to order that as an extra dish. It has stopped me from ordering from here on several occassions.

Small portions and fatty meat

Haven't a clue whether it's good Indonesian but it's good food. Lamb curry, shrimp fritters, fried bread, fresh salad, shrimp cracker, all tasty. Always delivered quick and hot as ordered.

Although not as delicious as the Indonesian food in Amsterdam, this is a great choice for those who crave the wonderful spices of Indonesia. Very good vegetarian options. I would highly recommend for delivery, even if it's not perfect.

There has not been one noodle in my soup.

I really enjoy this restaraunt. One problem is they recently changed the size and flavor of the Sate Ayam. They also recently changed their peanut sauce recipe and it DOES NOT TASTE good at all. It went from a sweet creamy texture to a peppery crumbly peanut sauce. These unfortunately were my favorite things...and now they are ruined. Hopefully they go back to the old recipe, and I can change my review to 5 star.

This restaurant is incompetent. Order at your peril. I put in my order at 7:35 pm and did not receive it until almost a full two hours later at 9:32.

Ordered the special which was pricey so I thought there would be a lot of food...there wasn't. Maybe 1 1/4 meals instead of two. Food was pretty good. Delivery was on time.

My food took two hours to arrive (I called in the interim and was told "It's on its way") and was, predictably, cold. While it was still OK to eat (I've had much worse on seamless, unfortunately), the fact that a colleague ordered from here at the same time and received her food 40 minutes before I did (and still well over an hour after she ordered!) shows that this restaurant needs to work on its internal procedures. This place has good cooks, but terrible management!

The lamb curry is one of the best I've ever had, great comfort food, especially when it's cold out. The chicken curry isn't nearly as good, sadly enough. The house salad with peanut dressing is also delicious!

The food was bland. the Roti Canai doesn't taste like Roti Canai and comes with some sort of Coconut sauce that probably belongs on the periodic table than on a dining table and it took them an hour-and-a-half to deliver.

One of the best places in town for delicious, fresh, unpretentious food, well prepared. Reliably good every time. The nasi rames sampler is great, and I could be happy for days eating nothing but perkedel jagung (corn fritters with shrimp). I do wish I could get them to stop sending me plastic forks, but everything else they do just right.

Quick delivery! I got the #12 lunch special (Tumis Ayam Udang Sayuran) and it was really yummy. Only complaint was that you only get 3-4 baby shrimp and a few tiny pieces of chicken. The vegetables were cooked perfectly and the sauce is great.

Fish was mushy. Felt I had to eat rice to feel full.

I cannot even review the food here because I waited over an hour for my delivery and it never arrived. I had the restaurant cancel the order.

Loved it! The food was delicious and they're not afraid to use some heat.

The price is ridiculous. For example, Rendang Padang (broiled beef with coconut and chili) is $15 and the portion is a lunch size (i.e. 5 cubes of beef and half a bowl of rice portion). As another, Nasi Goreng (fried rice with satay chicken, shrimp and egg), it only contains a few shrimps (handful to be exact) and its size is smaller than half a pinky). I personally would no longer order from this restaurant as they have depreciated its quality and quantity of their used to be great food.

I had never had Indonesian before, but this place was pretty delicious. The lunch boxes are a large amount of food, making them a great deal, and the food came riduclously quickly. All of it was very fresh, just the right amount of spicey, and very, very filling.

Great food! The Roti Canai is the best one I've ever tried, out of any Indonesian or South Asian restaurant. Recommend the Bihun Goreng! Lunch portions are very generous and the dinner portions are enough for 2 people.

So well seasoned and prepared. A little pricey, but worth it for a really delicious meal. Try the smaller sides, there are some great ones!

Love this place-food is delicious (rendang padang, shrimp and corn fritters, chili prawns are amazing) and everything arrives hot when delivered.

so good! try it, you wont be disappointed

The Nasi Goreng consisted of flavorless fried rice and skewers of 6 dried out dice sized chicken cubes. Chicken overcooked, vegetables undercooked. Whenever I've ordered this in Asia it included spicy sauce, shrimp crackers, etc. I'm sure they know how to prepare this properly, they just don't seem to care. The Korean deli steam table down the block has better food.

The restaurant called 70 mins later to cancel my order because their delivery man was sick. Do they have only one delivery man?? Anyway, asked them to cancel my order but they didn't know how! Give me a break

Food is delicious, almost tastes homemade. Beef coconut curry was especially yummy. Not sure if I will order from here again, despite the great food, because the delivery took over 90 minutes to arrive.
UPDATE: I took a chance and ordered a 2nd time. Delivery came on time and the food was still yummy! The fried rice dish is good but nothing special. All of the curry dishes are great and unique.

I am from Los Angeles and spend about six weeks here every summer. I had a terrible day today with a sick daughter and at the end, ordered for the first time from this restaurant. It was SO good, I wanted to cry. I got here so fast and it was hot and delicious. You can count me as a fan for life.

I've been ordering from Bali Nusa for over 3 years and the food is consistently good. In particular I enjoy the Roti Canai and the Nasi Goreng. Inside the restaurant is kinda drab, but delivery is on-time and fresh. Certainly one of the better values in the neighborhood.

saw high rating so ordered here. Ordered chicken in coconut. Really didnt like chicken broth. dish itself was ok, I think I dont like the flavor of their chicken

AMAZING! I've never had Indonesian food so I can't say if its authentic, but its sooo tasty. I only get the Sate's (Chicken or Steak on a stick). You get 4 skewers for $6 and I can eat 2-3 orders as I'm a pretty hungry guy. Two is a meal for most people I'd bet. Regardless, if you want something different and really good, try this place.
